InsiSat1

Insight Satellite-1 Overview

An educational tool designed to familiarize high school and university students with spacecraft instrumentation. Adhering to industry standards, it offers a hands-on learning experience, demonstrating the practical aspects of satellite technology in an academic setting.

Communications Subsystem

This subsystem is equipped with LoRa technology, enabling robust wireless communication over extensive distances. Its versatility makes it suitable for a variety of scenarios, from ground-based experiments to high-altitude weather balloon projects.

Electrical Power Subsystem

Equipped to charge via USB or solar panels, this subsystem includes a battery ensuring 6 hours of autonomy without solar charging.

On-Board Computer

The satellite’s brain is a Linux-based Single Board Computer with a custom kernel for this satellite. It orchestrates all satellite communications, managing all the spacecraft operations.

Prototype Subsystem

A key educational feature, this subsystem allows students to experiment by adding sensors and components to an ESP32S3-based prototype board.

Operational Integration

Each subsystem plays a unique role, but it’s their coordinated operation that brings the satellite to life, mimicking the functionality of a real satellite. This integrated approach demonstrates how various components work in unison to achieve the satellite’s mission objectives.
